Hive Unveils Miniature Smart Home Playhouse for the Next Generation of Climate Heroes

And with climate-conscious kids increasingly curious about how greener homes actually work, parents are looking for ways to make sustainable tech more accessible and engaging. Three in four (76%) believe toys should reflect the modern world, and 88% say they’re likely to buy toys that teach eco-friendly living.

To help families explore the home of the future, Hive has created the Hive Playhouse – a limited-edition, miniature home that brings real-world eco-tech to life in playful, hands-on form. The house includes tiny versions of a heat pump, solar panels, an EV charger and a smart thermostat, designed to help children understand how energy-saving systems work through play.

The launch coincides with parents’ rising interest in greener choices as half (50%) plan to invest in more eco-tech over the next year, with solar panels (35%), smart lighting (34%) and smart thermostats (34%) topping their wish lists.

Far from an average dollhouse, the Hive Playhouse gives children a tactile way to imagine a smarter future and inspires the adults around them to help make it real.

Tom Pakenham, Director at Hive says “Our findings show a clear shift – children aren’t just worried about the climate, they want to help fix it. With parents saying their kids now influence their environmental choices, it’s clear families are ready to embrace greener living. The Hive Playhouse brings that future to life in miniature, showing how small changes like smart heating or solar energy can spark a curiosity in energy and make sustainability feel achievable. At Hive, we want to help families take charge of their energy, make smarter choices and empower the next generation of eco-heroes to build a brighter tomorrow while helping parents and children explore eco-living in a fun, accessible way.”

Research shows children are already dreaming big when it comes to the home of tomorrow.  The Hive Playhouse brings these ambitions to life in miniature – and puts climate optimism into their hands.

From tiny heat pumps to child-sized solar panels, Hive is helping families across the country see that small changes can have a big impact – and that building a greener future starts at home, one connected choice at a time.

Only a limited number of Hive Playhouses have been created and will be available to win via competition. For more information and to enter visit, https://www.hivehome.com/discover-hive/playhouse
