The smart home market continues to grow together: German automation specialist Eltako has joined the Works with Homey program. This means that compatible devices from the manufacturer can now be integrated directly into the open smart home platform Homey. At the same time, an official Eltako app has been published in the Homey App Store. Of particular interest is the support of Matter-enabled devices and battery-free EnOcean sensors, which can be integrated into existing smart home setups via a bridge.

Eltako Works with Homey: Integration expands smart home ecosystem
By joining the Works with Homey program, Eltako is significantly expanding the compatibility of its smart home products. Users of the platform can now connect Eltako Series 64 devices that support the Matter smart home standard directly to their Homey system.
Matter is now considered one of the most important standards in the smart home sector. The aim is to make devices from different manufacturers compatible with each other via a standardized platform. Thanks to the new integration, Eltako components can be seamlessly integrated into existing Homey setups and controlled together with devices from other brands.
Another focus is on supporting EnOcean technology. This enables wireless sensors and switches that do not require batteries and obtain their energy from movement or ambient energy, for example. A special Eltako EnOcean plug-in adapter is used to connect such devices to Homey.
This adapter acts as a so-called Matter Bridge. As a result, compatible EnOcean devices appear in the Homey system like normal smart home devices. Sensors, switches or other input devices can thus be integrated into automations without the need for additional proprietary gateways.
This integration should significantly increase flexibility in the smart home. Battery-free sensors are particularly interesting for many applications, for example in installations that are difficult to access or in buildings where low-maintenance technology is to be used.
Automation with Homey Flows and EnOcean sensors
The new Eltako Works with Homey integration allows devices to be integrated directly into the platform’s automation functions. Complex scenarios can be created using the familiar Homey Flows or the extended Advanced Flows.
Typical automations can be, for example
- Lights switch on automatically when someone comes home
- Appliances are switched off as soon as the house is empty
- Heating systems adapt to temperature or motion sensors
The combination of classic smart home components and battery-free EnOcean sensors is particularly interesting. These can be used as motion detectors, window sensors or light switches, for example, and can be operated completely without changing batteries.
The new app thus expands the Homey ecosystem to include an additional category of energy-efficient smart home devices. At the same time, installations benefit from the fact that devices from different manufacturers can work together within one platform.
The app is compatible with several Homey systems, including Homey Pro (2023-2026), Homey Pro mini and Homey Self-Hosted Server.
Conclusion
By joining the Works with Homey program, Eltako strengthens the integration of its smart home technologies into an open platform ecosystem. The new Homey app enables the direct integration of Matter devices and self-powered EnOcean sensors via a Matter bridge. This significantly expands the selection of compatible devices for Homey. The Eltako app is now available free of charge in the Homey App Store.
