This Year’s HGTV Smart Home is to Die For

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and certainly the value of the 2025 HGTV Smart Home fits that bill. HGTV has just debuted this year’s home in San Antonio.

Unlike other sweepstakes homes that HGTV has built from the ground up, this home was originally built in the 1950s and oozes Midcentury Modern vibes. But of course, to be this year’s Smart Home, you know it’s been renovated and elevated in every possible way.

Meet the Designer Responsible for This Year’s HGTV Smart Home

Designer and general contractor Poonam Moore took on the challenge of turning the dated home into a Midcentury masterpiece.

Moore has her own design firm, Poonam’s By Design, in Aurora, Colorado. You may have seen her on episodes of HGTV’s “Rico to the Rescue” and “100 Day Hotel Challenge.

In a press release, HGTV says “this stunning renovation merges nostalgic charm with a sporty, high-tech twist. Designed for indoor-outdoor living, the open concept home spans over 3,000 square feet, featuring three luxurious bedrooms, three spa-inspired bathrooms, and creative outdoor spaces like the relaxing balcony.”

In a nod to San Antonio, the home is full of bold earth tones, mixed with Midcentury textures like aged leather, exposed wood and brushed brass.

And that’s just the inside.

The outside features a private basketball court and a refreshing cold plunge perfect for the steamy summers of south Texas. Moore is quoted in the press release saying, “This home is the perfect mix of fun, luxury, functionality and effortless living. When designing it, I wanted to blend touches of Midcentury modern influences with a playful Texas twist, creating a fresh, fun stylish aesthetic that sets this home apart.”

All Eyes on San Antonio, TX

One aspect of the home’s smart features is a sports-inspired media lounge, perfect for watching a little basketball. HGTV debuted the home just in time for the nation’s eyes to be on San Antonio for the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four.

And this year’s March Madness is likely to get more attention than ever. For only the second time in history, the Final Four is made up of all No. 1 seeds- Auburn, Duke, Florida, and Houston. And it’s all happening at the Alamodome, just a short way away from this year’s HGTV Smart Home.
