AI Wi-Fi sensing technology creator Origin AI targeted further smart home advances, teaming with lighting technology specialist Signify to develop a variety of autonomous systems involving motion detection and monitoring.
Signify EVP of WiZ Connected Maikel Klomp explained lighting systems are an optimal place to locate smart home technologies due to already occupying prime locations in every room.
Klomp said Signify and Origin AI aim to develop systems which “go beyond simple illumination”.
The AI company stated the companies would focus on developing technologies including smart plugs which employ Wi-Fi Sensing technology to turn lights and other devices on automatically when motion is detected.
Origin AI added its technology would also form the basis of work on home monitoring systems.
Its work with Signify is a long-term collaboration, the company explained.
Origin AI president and CEO Spencer Maid expects the companies’ respective strengths to result in “disruptive innovations”.
