TP-Link Launches Tapo DL130 Smart Lock

TP-Link Systems Inc., a global leader in networking and smart home solutions, has officially announced the expansion of its award-winning Tapo product line with the introduction of the Tapo DL130 Smart Door Lock. This next-generation security solution introduces advanced palm vein recognition technology alongside a traditional precision fingerprint scanner, offering homeowners secure, keyless entry that functions reliably across diverse hand conditions and age groups.

Next-Generation Biometric Authentication

The centerpiece of the Tapo DL130 is its advanced palm vein recognition system, which utilizes near-infrared light to map the unique, sub-dermal vein structures of a user’s hand. Because internal vein patterns are nearly impossible to replicate or lift, this touch-free method delivers a superior level of security.

To ensure absolute user privacy, all biometric data is encrypted and stored exclusively on-device. For added flexibility, the device offers five alternative unlocking mechanisms, including a high-precision physical fingerprint scanner.

Commercial-Grade Engineering and Security Compliance

Engineered to withstand both physical wear and environmental elements, the Tapo DL130 is built to rigorous industry standards:

  • Certified Security: The hardware holds a BHMA Grade 2 certification, ensuring commercial-grade durability and resistance against forced entry.
  • Weatherproof Architecture: An IP65 rating guarantees dependable performance across a wide spectrum of adverse weather conditions.
  • Proactive Defense: The lock features an automated lockout mechanism that activates after consecutive failed authentication attempts, mitigating brute-force tampering.

Ecosystem Integration and Intelligent Monitoring

The Tapo DL130 integrates into the broader Tapo smart home ecosystem. Through the proprietary Tapo mobile application, administrators can manage access permissions remotely, track real-time entry logs, and receive immediate alerts. The unit includes a dedicated door sensor to monitor open/closed status and allows homeowners to generate customizable, time-sensitive passcodes for guests, service providers, and family members.

Highly Secure Access Point

“The launch of the Tapo DL130 represents a significant milestone in our commitment to accessible, high-tier home security,” said Jeffrey Chao, CEO of TP-Link Systems Inc. “We integrated sophisticated palm vein biometrics with a robust, energy-efficient architecture, to provide families with a frictionless, highly secure access point. This product exemplifies how Tapo continues to innovate at the intersection of everyday convenience and enterprise-grade safety.”

Optimized Power Management

To minimize maintenance, the Tapo DL130 utilizes a dual-power architecture consisting of a removable, rechargeable primary battery and an integrated backup battery. This system delivers up to one full year of operational life. In the event of total power depletion, an external USB-C port is available to provide emergency power.

Pricing and Market Availability

The Tapo DL130 will officially go on sale via Amazon beginning June 8, 2026. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) is set at $229.99.
