SEOUL, July 31 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s tech giants Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics swept top honors at the 2025 Ergonomic Design Awards, hosted by the Ergonomics Society of Korea, with a series of smart home appliances praised for their user-centric design, usability, and innovation.

Samsung’s Bespoke AI Dishwasher was named Best of the Best, the highest recognition at the annual awards, which are now in their 25th year.

The product was lauded for its intuitive Auto Open Door, which opens with a light push, and a glide rail upper rack that allows heavy dish baskets to slide easily with minimal effort. Additional features, such as custom cleaning zones for cups, dedicated racks for large bowls, and a vertical pan holder, contributed to its top score.

Samsung also received special honors for its Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator and Bespoke AI Steam Robot Vacuum, recognized for integrating ergonomic design with AI-powered functionality.

The refrigerator features an Auto Open Door for easy access by children and older adults, along with a 9-inch touchscreen for centralized control of connected smart home devices.

LG Electronics took home the most awards for the second consecutive year, winning seven in total, including a Best Product Award for its AI robot vacuum.

Among LG’s standout innovations were the LG MyCup, a tumbler washer that won the Top Innovation Award for its ability to wash and dry reusable drinkware with simple controls. Equipped with 360-degree rotating spray arms and 65°C high-pressure water, the device efficiently cleans both the interior and exterior of tumblers and lids.

Another innovation, the LG Signature OLED T, also received a Top Innovation Award. Marketed as the world’s first wireless and transparent OLED TV, the model can switch between opaque and transparent modes via remote control, offering a unique visual experience.

Its proprietary wireless AV transmission solution enables 4K video at 144Hz without delay or signal loss, allowing flexible placement in any space.

LG also received special recognition for its AI Magic Remote, webOS AI UX platform, Smart Monitor Swing, and Objet Collection Refrigerator, all praised for enhancing the ergonomic experience in modern living environments.

The results underscore the growing influence of AI and user-centered design in the home appliance market, as companies compete to deliver smarter, safer, and more intuitive technology for everyday life.
