IFA Berlin is always filled with all kinds of products, and this year’s tradeshow was no different. We got foldable phones, a gimbal with a detachable camera, modular exoskeletons, and many more cool gadgets. The innovation also trickled down to home appliances, which are being reimagined with new technology, cameras, and interconnectivity to make your life easier. Here are four such products that could change what you expect from a smart home appliance.
The Xiaomi Smart Bedroom Experience
At its huge IFA booth spanning over 380 products across smartphones, smart home devices, cars, AI, and more, Xiaomi gave me a demo of its smart bedroom. A place where technology is interconnected to sense your presence and take actions on your behalf.
For example, during my demo, a Xiaomi representative sat down on the bed with a book and the AI-enabled cameras recognized them. The Xiaomi ecosystem then adjusted the bed for a comfortable reading position, switched on the bedside lamp, and turned on the AC. All of this without touching a phone or any other screen.
I’d never want to have AI-enabled cameras watching me everywhere inside my home, but if this could be achieved by motion sensors, I’m all for it. Although, I imagine there wouldn’t be a way for the motion sensors to recognize if it is you or someone else in your bedroom to trigger the automated setups. Nonetheless, this was one of the coolest smart home demos I’ve seen in a while.
They Added A Camera To A Dishwasher

If the Dyson toothbrush with a camera wasn’t weird enough, there’s a dishwasher at IFA 2026 with a built-in camera. The Miele Diamond G8 dishwasher integrates AI-powered camera technology to scan your dishes and decide how to wash them without missing a spot.
The small camera is located at the back. It is fixed on the dishwasher door to get a clear shot of its interior. The system uses that view to see what’s inside. It then recognizes common kitchen items and tailors the wash cycle (alongside the detergent volume) accordingly. Miele’s dishwasher is also smart enough to wait for the hours when power costs less to run when it is most feasible economically.

I realize I’ve been intrigued by the dishwashers on this show floor. One of them includes the Teka InsideMax dishwasher, which has greater usable capacity and targeted cleaning with flexible loading. You no longer need to bend every day to the bottom rack to load the dishwasher.
The Teka InsideMax is built for people with back issues. It has a Comfort-Up lower basket that raises to countertop height for loading and unloading so you don’t have to bend. It also features a more usable design. For example, the upper basket adjusts in one step for tall glasses, and there’s a deepened third rack to hold small bowls and cups instead of just cutlery.
The InsideMax dishwasher offers five separate cleaning zones: SprayJet, DualX Wash, Orbit Wash, Dual ForceZone, and PrecisionZone to specifically target different shapes rather than relying on one spray pattern for everything.
Teka’s parent company, Midea, also showcased a new Tri-GreenApex System that focuses on offering energy-efficient wash, dry and store journey. The new integrated dual heat-pump technology features rapid drying and controlled dry storage within one coordinated system to cut energy use and dry the dishes within 30 minutes.
Govee Sky Ceiling Light
Govee describes the Sky Ceiling Light as “the industry’s first AI-powered, mood-responsive ceiling light.” According to the company, its new ceiling light is designed to support the body’s natural rhythm and help maintain alertness when daylight is limited, thanks to Govee’s DaySync feature.
It features a huge 1,000K-10,000K color temperature range with support for up to 7,000 lumens of white light and a CRI of 95. It comes with Matter support, which lets it work with other compatible smart home platforms. The Govee Sky Ceiling Light can also change the lighting as per your mood. You can converse with the AI Lighting Bot 2.0 and describe an idea to create the lighting based on your mood.
