DREO used IFA 2026 to introduce DREO Air Intelligence, a new AI-powered system designed to coordinate the company’s growing range of air quality and home comfort products. Of particular interest to smart home users is support for Matter-enabled devices, potentially allowing products outside DREO’s own ecosystem to form part of the system.
The company also unveiled a new range of air purifiers, headed by the Air Purifier 530S, alongside new heating technologies and other additions to its European product line-up.
DREO AIR INTELLIGENCE
DREO Air Intelligence is designed to move beyond controlling individual appliances by using environmental information to coordinate compatible devices around the home. The system combines data from connected devices and sensors with thermal comfort models to determine conditions within the home and make adjustments accordingly. DREO says the system uses internationally recognised PMV and PPD thermal comfort models, which consider factors beyond temperature, including humidity, airflow, activity levels, and clothing.
One of the more interesting aspects is Matter support. DREO says Air Intelligence has been designed around an open ecosystem and can work with Matter-enabled devices, potentially allowing compatible third-party products to contribute to a wider home air management system. For Apple Home users, Matter support is particularly relevant, although DREO has not provided details on which Matter device types will initially be supported or exactly how Air Intelligence will interact with devices commissioned to Apple Home.
HOME AIR PILOT
At the centre of Air Intelligence is a feature called Home Air Pilot. This continuously monitors environmental conditions and can coordinate compatible DREO products to manage air quality, comfort, and energy consumption. Where the system determines that an adjustment can be made automatically, it can alter the operation of compatible devices. DREO says decisions involving individual preferences will remain under the user’s control.
A Home Wellness Score provides an overall rating between zero and 100, based on factors including thermal comfort, air quality, the sleeping environment, and water-related information. There’s also an Energy Saving Status feature that compares energy consumption with and without AI optimisation, providing estimates for electricity use, cost savings, and carbon emissions.
NEW AIR PURIFIER 530S
DREO also introduced the Air Purifier 530S, the flagship model in its latest European air purifier range. The 530S uses the company’s TurboPure purification system, with 360-degree air intake and output. Air entering the purifier is directed through a spiral intake designed to reduce turbulence before reaching the fan.
Its three-stage filtration system includes a True HEPA filter rated to capture 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns, a replaceable FiberCatch layer for larger particles such as dust and pet hair, and 130g of modified activated carbon for odour removal.
An integrated PM2.5 sensor continually measures air quality and can automatically adjust the purifier’s operation. An RGBIC light ring provides a visual indication of current air quality and can also be used for ambient lighting effects. The purifier has an AHAM-verified Clean Air Delivery Rate of 221m³/h, which DREO says is sufficient for approximately 19m² at 4.8 air changes per hour. Sleep Mode reduces operating noise to a claimed 18dB.
Smart control is available through the DREO app, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home. Notably, DREO does not list Matter or Apple Home support for the 530S itself, despite Matter forming part of the wider Air Intelligence announcement. Other new models being shown at IFA include the Air Purifier 539S, 539AS, 338S, and Macro Max AS.
NEW HEATING TECHNOLOGY
DREO is also demonstrating its new AutoShift technology, which uses a motorised air guide to change how heat is distributed. The system can switch between focused heating for an individual area and 360-degree heating intended to distribute warm air throughout a room. Rather than simply changing fan speed or temperature, the internal structure physically changes position to redirect the airflow. The company is also showing a new fanless convection heating system designed to provide quieter and more evenly distributed heat using natural air circulation.
MATTER AND THE FUTURE OF DREO’S ECOSYSTEM
Matter was also a significant part of DREO’s wider IFA presentation. The company hosted a panel featuring Connectivity Standards Alliance President and CEO Tobin Richardson, alongside representatives from DREO and Polar, discussing AI, interoperability, and connected home wellness. DREO’s Air Intelligence announcement suggests the company is looking beyond app-based control of individual appliances towards a system in which environmental sensors and appliances can work together automatically.
For Apple Home users, the key question will be how far DREO takes its Matter integration. Air Intelligence is described as supporting Matter-enabled devices, but the company has yet to detail which of its own appliances will gain native Matter support or whether products such as the new Air Purifier 530S will eventually become directly accessible through Apple Home.
