Kaspersky has highlighted the importance of securing smart homes as Malaysians prepare to travel for Hari Raya celebrations. The cybersecurity company warned that while smart locks, digital security cameras, and IoT devices enhance convenience, they also pose risks if left unprotected.
Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky, said, “Hackers can potentially tap into your network, hijack cameras, disable alarms or even control smart doors when you are away.”
Kaspersky outlined key security measures, including securing Wi-Fi networks with strong passwords and encryption, segmenting home networks, changing default passwords, and keeping devices updated. The company also advised turning off unnecessary devices, avoiding real-time location updates on social media, and using cybersecurity solutions for real-time protection.
In conjunction with Ramadhan, Kaspersky is offering up to 17% off Kaspersky Premium subscriptions along with a GrabGifts voucher, valid until March 31 2025.
