There are only a few days left to enter to win the 2025 HGTV Smart Home. And now the network is giving us a glimpse of just how incredible the home’s transformation really is.
HGTV just put up a series of “before and after” photos of the home on its Instagram account. And the difference is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
Unlike other sweepstakes homes that HGTV has built from the ground up, this home was originally built in the 1950s. And it looked every bit of its age before HGTV designers worked their magic. But they still stayed true to the house’s authentic mid-century modern vibes.
In the first picture of the front exterior, the home is a hodge podge of rusty brick and board and batten siding in a rusty brown, with a faded gray roof. Many of the front windows are tiny. And the landscaping is practically nonexistent. The “after” shot features a creamy white house with huge windows and rich wood trim. The dark roof pops against the white house. And the landscaping features planter boxes and manicured spaces highlighting the beautiful trees in front of the house.
HGTV Shows Off Backyard Transformation From Drab to Fab
The home in Austin, Texas, started out with a drab backyard with a small, dark covered patio.
Now that has been transformed into an outdoor oasis featuring a giant covered back patio with room for dining, a basketball court and a refreshing cold plunge perfect for the steamy summers of south Texas. The home’s upper level also gained a beautiful back balcony.
The post also shows off the incredible transformations of the home’s kitchen and living area, both once covered in dark paneling, and the home’s master bath, which originally sported a bright turquoise sink and and pink tiled shower.
In a press release, HGTV says “this stunning renovation merges nostalgic charm with a sporty, high-tech twist. Designed for indoor-outdoor living, the open concept home spans over 3,000 square feet, featuring three luxurious bedrooms, three spa-inspired bathrooms, and creative outdoor spaces like the relaxing balcony.”
